The current exhibition showcases several thematic threads in Marina's work.
Initially, in her search for imagery, the artist explores familiar settings, such as rural interiors and views from a Moscow window. These spaces undergo a transformation in front of the viewer’s eyes, though they remain recognizable.
In the next phase, familiar objects undergo an abstract transformation, where the objects become encrypted. The transformation of these objects in space continues the line of metaphysical still life pioneered by Giorgio Morandi. For Marina, the core element lies in the act of painting itself.
Finally, in the "Signs" series, Marina presents seven variations of a single symbol, transforming it on paper. The same symbol is then repeated on a screen, gradually evolving into a three-dimensional sculptural form. According to the artist, non-figurative art demands more imagination from the viewer, encouraging a deep immersion in one’s own perception. Through this process, abstract forms come to life, giving birth to new images.
