2017 marks the 95th anniversary of the birth of the remarkable Russian artist Nikolai Fedorovich Novikov (1922-2013). Having already received wide recognition, Nikolai Fedorovich wrote that every time he went to sketching, he felt like a student taking an exam. 'It seems like I know everything about mixing colours and painting snow and yet as I look at it, and the snow is glowing... all the knowledge just flies out of my head ... '
