Moscow 2016

Moscow of 1960s with its dazzling cyclists on Prospekt Mira, and stunning girls with oars in a rowing competition in Khlebnikovo, tumbler-glass militia booths, churches on the background of skyscrapers under construction, metro stations and VDNKh pavilions. It is the exhibition of that which has been and of that which has not taken place, of real life and of urban myths, where some things are still recognisable, and some have already been forgotten forever.

Located in the heart of Moscow in a 100-year old house, NB Gallery has been collecting paintings and graphics of the Soviet era for over 20 years. Every year we like to show our newly found pieces and old collectibles that depict Moscow.
This summer we particularly feel like we want to reignite the city as we remember it, as Moscow is literally changing in front of our very eyes. We will be able to see how the city has beeen changing from decade to decade through art. We will look at rural Moscow where Nagornaya is the name of the village, not the metro station.
We’ll get to see the Moscow of 1960s with its dazzling cyclists on Prospekt Mira, and stunning girls with oars in a rowing competition in Khlebnikovo, tumbler-glass militia booths, churches on the background of skyscrapers under construction, metro stations and VDNKh pavilions. It is the exhibition of that which has been and of that which has not taken place, of real life and of urban myths, where some things are still recognisable, and some have already been forgotten forever.
Through the whole summer we also offer walks around Moscow, share stories about the Soviet and non-Soviet art, and explain how to export paintings abroad and answer all your questions. Do stop by!
